I have made a timeline of what I expect of my career development here:
Downloadable version: Anh’s Timeline
In completing my bachelor, I will take part in units of my majors, such as SIT232 – Object-oriented Development, or SIT313 – Developing Client-Server Web Applications. Apart from that, my electives will majorly be related to Mathematics and Computer Science themes. These are the important subjects that would help me to develop a deep understanding of complex fields of IT and Computer Science such as data analysis, machine learning, artificial intelligence, etc.
Furthermore, I have listed three main tasks/ experiences that I would like to achieve while studying in university. First, I would apply for the role Student Rover which employed by Deakin’s Library (Deakin.edu.au, 2018). With this role, I could find out more about the valuable facilities and resources provided by the uni library, as well as earning more academic experience from my colleagues and the university staffs. Afterwards, I aim at becoming a Math Mentor for Deakin (Deakin.edu.au, 2018). This experience requires a strong capability in mathematical knowledge and teaching. Thus, it would push me to work hard in my units, and it would also relatively promote my knowledge of mentoring and networking with my academic peers.
Finally, the most impactful experience which is more outside of the university scope – applying for an industrial internship (particularly through FreelancingHUB program of DeakinTalent) (DeakinTALENT, 2018). I plan on achieving this by first taking the resume and interview workshops of DeakinTalent (Unihub.deakin.edu.au, 2018). I find them quite useful since I could carry out all the criteria needed for my profile. Then, I could submit my resume for baseline review, and later facilitate my resume writing in the most structure-oriented and standardised way (Unihub.deakin.edu.au, 2018). More importantly, I believe this would be an extremely useful experience to learn professionalism and to apply knowledge from classes to practice.
In a conclusive point of view, these three experiences are all academic-based, which is good, for it is the resources of information from my education provider. Nonetheless, they are paid activities, thus also considered industrial tasks, which would impact hugely on my career after graduation.
